By signing up for Hawaii Kai Talks, you agree to the following terms:
Hawaii Kai Talks is a communication and public speaking community built on trust, encouragement, and shared commitment. Members may explore meaningful or vulnerable topics, but the purpose of the group is to develop communication and public speaking skills. Hawaii Kai Talks is not a support or therapy group.
Membership Term and Cost
Membership is offered in 6 month terms at a one time payment of $90, which breaks down to $15 per month. There is no startup or initiation fee. Membership dues are collected in full at the time of registration.
Hawaii Kai Talks observes a seasonal break from mid November through January. This break period is not counted toward your 6 month membership term, and your membership will resume when meetings begin again in January.
What Membership Includes
Membership includes interactive meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, offering opportunities to practice public speaking and brainstorm speech content in a supportive environment. Members receive constructive feedback from both AI and fellow members, along with access to a consistent, growth focused community.
Members commit to participating in one prepared speech and one brainstorming session per quarter. These sessions must be scheduled in advance, either via email or through the request form in the member portal.
Hawaii Kai Talks also hosts an annual TED-style talk event held in November, where members may have the opportunity to speak. Speaking opportunities are not guaranteed and are based on availability and readiness.
Sponsorship Requirement
All new members must be sponsored by an existing member. Sponsorship helps ensure alignment with the values, culture, and group dynamic of Hawaii Kai Talks.
2 Month Trial Period
All new memberships begin with a 2 month trial period. During this time, both the member and Hawaii Kai Talks assess whether the group is the right fit. If it is determined during the trial period that the membership is not a good fit, membership may be discontinued and a full refund will be issued.
Attendance Policy
Hawaii Kai Talks thrives on consistent participation. Because space is limited, regular attendance helps maintain momentum, accountability, and fairness to all members. By joining, you understand and agree that missing three consecutive meetings, approximately 1.5 months, will result in forfeiture of your membership seat and dues. If a seat becomes available, it may be offered to someone on the waitlist.
Participation Expectations
Members agree to contribute to a respectful, growth focused, and supportive environment. Members are expected to uphold the community values of kindness, openness, vulnerability, growth, and encouragement as part of the shared experience of Hawaii Kai Talks.
Refunds, Transfers, and Renewals
Membership dues are paid in advance and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Renewal information will be sent approximately 2 weeks before membership expiration, and a renewal invoice will also be made available in the member portal.
Membership Discretion
Hawaii Kai Talks reserves the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue membership at any time, in its sole discretion, in order to protect the integrity, values, and group dynamic of the community.
